The Attends brand has power on the retail shelf next to other brands of disposable adult incontinence products. Take the case of a market study we completed for a regional retail chain in 2006. Here’s how it worked:
- After initial discussions, Attends and the regional chain agreed on the shelf price
- The chain added three sizes of Attends Protective Underwear to their 12-foot planogram in approximately 70 stores in 4 states
- They set pricing on the shelf for the Attends Protective Underwear that was $2.00 to $4.00 less per bag than Depend brand underwear and competitive to the private-label product
- The chain utilized scans and ran circular ads repeatedly post launch
- Within 90 days, sales of Attends Protective Underwear surpassed sales of Depend protective underwear for the chain
- After 180 days, Attends sales increased 25% compared with Depend. Sales of Attends continue to grow incrementally every week
- Thanks to a shift in brand loyalty and the fact that Attends is not available in national chains and through mass merchandisers, customers must purchase Attends at the stores of the regional chain
What happened next
As of June 2007, the chain added Attends Pop-Up Washcloths and Attends 23" x 36" Retail Underpads to the incontinence products plan—further testament to the joint success.
